Traffic Control

Traffic Control

The City’s Traffic Division is located at the City Service Complex and is responsible for a multitude of duties that include various pavement markings, lane lines, double yellow lines, arrows, crosswalk markings, signal installation & maintenance, and signage installation & maintenance.

We also maintain the highway lighting on State Rt 16 and 79 that are within the City limits, various decorative lighting, and bike path lighting which amounts to approximately 1200 lights. In addition, we maintain ninety signalized intersections in the City. This consists of periodic relamps, and wiring inspections of the intersection, as well as addressing various complaints. Control Cabinet Inspections are scheduled at 18-month intervals. There are approximately 9,000 installed traffic control signs within the City (stop, speed limit, parking restrictions, lane control signs, etc.).

Newark-Heath Active Transportation Plan
