Cherry Valley Road Bridge/Thornwood Crossing Public Involvement Meeting Information

The following are links to all documents that were presented at the Public Information Meeting held of June 22, 2016:

Downtown Utility Burial Project

Downtown Newark still has many overhead electric and communication lines. These lines pose a significant health and safety hazard through the risk of fire, shock, or arc to area residents and businesses. Therefore, the City, in cooperation with AEP, has contracted with Claypool Electric to bury the lines underground in a manner consistent with current safety and building codes.

Underground infrastructure construction is complete.

Production of the final transformer needed to complete the project has been delayed. The Contractor and AEP will continue working to transfer power in the remaining section when the transformer is received, potentially late fall 2024.

The poles will be removed once communications lines have been relocated.
